Lane 9 Project is on a mission
to keep women in sport through every season of life.

We're working to raise awareness of REDs and eating disorders in sport, helping women athletes fuel adequately, keep their periods regular,
and stay in the game.

L9P was founded by athletes in women's sports, for athletes.

We've struggled with Reds, and disordered eating, and know how hard it is to find the right healthcare for athletes.

As many as 1 in 3 female athletes may be struggling with REDs, according to a report from the IOC in 2023. Women are more likely to struggle with disordered eating, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia, in and outside of sport. We want athletes in women's sports to be educated, and to feel empowered to advocate for their own health.

Connect with our clinicians

We're just gonna say it: skipping your period isn't normal.

It should be a red flag if a menstruating athlete isn't getting regular periods, even or especially while they're actively participating in sport! This is true from puberty through pre- or peri-menopause seasons of life.

Research has identified myriad long term health impacts that may stem from Low Energy Availability (LEA), a hallmark of hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA) and relative energy deficiency in sport (REDs). We are here to raise awareness of LEA, HA, and RED, so athletes in women's sports are eqiupped with knowledge and support to advocate for their health, and longevity in sport.

If you, or an athlete you support, is struggling with fueling adequately and/or disordered eating maintaining regular periods, we're glad you're here in Lane 9.
